LTMF Launches Orchestra Academy for 2010

Through a reallocation of current funds, the Lake Tahoe Music Festival is launching a new program in the summer of 2010 – the Lake Tahoe Music Festival Orchestra Academy. The program provides world-class training and real-life professional experience to 36 young, aspiring musicians aged 18-22 from across the country.  

The students participate in a 10-day program that bridges the gap between college music studies and musical employment. Participating musicians will live at Granlibakken Resort in North Lake Tahoe to rehearse and learn with professionals prior to performing two Lake Tahoe Music Festival concerts and at smaller venues throughout the region.

Principal players drawn from major U.S. orchestras participate in the Academy as instructors, teaching master classes and soloists, coaching student musicians and serving as professional mentors through career planning classes.

Auditions will be conducted through YouTube videos, and applications will be accepted starting in January 2010. Watch for more details coming soon.

As this year comes to an end, we want to take the opportunity to thank all of our staff, board members, donors, volunteers and attendees for helping to make our 2009 Lake Tahoe Music Festival one of the most successful seasons yet. Our diverse line up of performances, including classic rock, smooth jazz, classical and Broadway brought returning and new attendees to the shores, hillsides and wide open venues throughout North Lake Tahoe and Truckee for an unforgettable summer experience.     

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you July 22 to August 7, 2010!

Vote for Us in Chase’s $5 Million Giveaway

If you haven’t headed to our Facebook Page lately we have five million reasons why you should check it out.  Chase Community Giving is directing their corporate philanthropy funds to nonprofits through a Facebook campaign.  Users can vote for their favorite charities, like Lake Tahoe Music Festival.
